I couldn’t wait to share! {note that this is a multi exclamation point post!}. As you may know, after considerable deliberation, we ended up taking E-photos. After seeing them, I have to admit that I’m so glad we did! I’m going to have to ease into the reveal since Old Dude is a bit shy about my posting photos of him on the blog, but here are a few shots that capture our story perfectly. To explain…

Old Dude and I met at an August wedding. He offered to get me a drink and when he asked me what I wanted, without hesitation, I ordered a beer {and now he always jokes, with apologies to the writers of the movie Jerry McGuire, “You had me at Yuengling.”}

After a bit of convincing {I was in non-dating mode}, I agreed to go on a “non-date” with him a few weeks later. A non-date you ask? I just wanted to hang out and do something “simple” without the usual pomp and pretense of a date. I told him to figure out something for us to do {little did he know it was a test} and he suggested we go for a walk in the beautiful, Rock Creek Park. While there, he told me about his family, and showed me the spot where he and his father used to fish and catch frogs. I knew that he was a special guy to take me to a place that was so personal and meaningful to him.

I felt my guard coming down at that point and we even held hands {a definite “non-date” no no!}.

I just love this shot!

After our walk, we went to Adams Morgan and stumbled upon an old school bar. Not a club, not a lounge, but a wonderful, hole-in-the-wall, no cover charge bar. Unbeknown to us, every Sunday, jazz musicians from around the city meet there for impromptu jam sessions. The music was a-friggin’-mazing.

My reflection in the mirror behind the bar

We sat at the bar, talked for hours, and drank ice cold bottles of Yuengling. Simple and simply perfect {and it shot my non-dating stance to hell…blessedly}.

The two of us and the bottle that launched our relationship

I will be posting more on my personal blog, Serving 39 to Wife as soon as we sort through them all…Thanks again to all of you who encouraged me to do an engagement session. It really was fun recreating our first date {well, non-date} and reliving the moments that made us fall in love in the first place. Special shout out to our amazing E-photo photog Inhar Chong for capturing each moment perfectly!
