The ceremony, followed by cocktail hour, followed by eating, drinking, dancing, and listening to your father’s semi-drunk and embarrassing speech – if you can do without the traditional wedding, you might find that the alternatives are a lot more fun. How about a wedding with wild animals in California? Or a ceremony beneath a waterfall in a Caribbean rainforest? It’s your wedding, so don’t be afraid to get wild!
The San Diego Safari Park offers extremely affordable weddings that take place right next to exotic birds or cheetahs. You can even have your wedding portrait taken standing inches away from one of the big cats, and many brides love the excuse to wear animal print high-heels.
The Safari Park provides linens, gourmet hors d’oeuvres and dinner, as well as tropical centerpieces and a “jungle juice†toast, but more importantly, they provide free day-passes to all of your guests on the wedding day. No need to worry about your guests getting bored, as it’s not possible here!
Anse Chastanet is one of my favorite boutique hotels in St. Lucia, and they offer wedding packages that will take you anywhere on the island, including underwater, for your ceremony. If saying your vows through snorkel gear doesn’t appeal to you, maybe declaring your love under a tropical waterfall will. You can choose to have your ceremony at whatever location speaks to you. Wedding packages start at $995 and don’t include the price of your stay.
Remember, the most important factor in deciding on a wedding location is how you feel about it. If you’re having fun, everyone else will, too.

An underwater ceremony? Wow!
Hey! Now that’s different! Underwater?! I like the idea of doing something different!
Underwater? Wow! I’d love to photograph that wedding!!!
I would love to get married in a jungle, i love animals. A visit from a monkey would be awesome!
