Eco-Friendly Ideas + A Mancave = One Truly Unique Wedding Showcase
Mar 1, 2011 by The Rocket Scientist Groom
Recently, I wrote about how a groom can survive a bridal expo. This past weekend, I went to the Mid-Atlantic Green Wedding Showcase, where not only did I get to meet some brilliant vendors who are truly making a difference in the world, but I also saw what may just be the best way for a groom to survive a wedding expo, The Mancave!
Combine plush leather seats, college basketball on a big screen and a bartender serving beer, and you’ve got the perfect place for a groom. If you need a breather, or a hideaway, then The Mancave is for you. I salute the organizers of the Mid-Atlantic Green Wedding Showcase for their brilliance and genuine thoughtfulness to include this at their event.
However, as fun as the mancave was, the rest of the showcase was even more entertaining and interesting. Each vendor reflected the tenets of green thinking through creative and innovative ways to create a beautiful wedding experience, all while limiting waste and environmental impact. From caterers who support local growers, to jewelry made with reclaimed metals, and photographs on cotton paper with soy ink that looks better than many traditional wedding albums, this event had everything. Even the transportation was green, with electric shuttles running to and from the parking lot.
For couples who want to have an environmentally conscious wedding but not skimp on style and practicality, I’m happy to report that you have some truly extraordinary options. Even if you aren’t as interested in making a statement at your wedding, I think you’ll find that the design options available may attract you to a green vendor, even if you don’t realize they’re green.
Are you planning an eco-friendly wedding?
