Blogger: SassyBrideTNLet Them Eat Cake…from Publix?
Posted by SassyBrideTNThis past Saturday, my mother and I ventured over to the grand opening of our neighborhood Publix. I have known for awhile now that they do wedding cakes and have even seen/heard several brides talk about them. I had kind of brushed it aside assuming that a grocery store’s cakes could never compare to a baker’s wedding cake, especially if they specialize in that style. But, I think I might have been wrong. [yes, I am capable of admitting that.]

While at the grand opening {which we attended at lunch time}, we got many a sample. The first one we got was from the bakery. Now, I love raspberries…a lot. They taste very good when paired with a vanilla or creme cake. At Publix, I got to try a piece of their Raspberry Decadence cake. I think I died a little when I put it into my mouth. The cake was soft and moist; the icing was smooth and did not taste like crunchy sugar; and the raspberry filling added that little something extra that all cakes need.

I didn’t even need a second bite to know that I was absolutely sold on this cake. Not only did I enjoy eating this cake, but it met all the criteria that my FI and I had agreed upon back in May when we first got engaged. [oh, yes. we knew from the start that we wanted raspberry filling and a vanilla or lemon cake!] Well, on Sunday, I finally approached the topic with him. I basically told him that I had found our wedding cake and at a, hopefully, decent rate. I showed him all the styles we could choose from, and, almost immediately, we both picked the same one.

We’re not fans of square cakes, but I think that even if all the layers were round cakes, it would still look pretty elegant and classy. And, if we have a Friday wedding, which is what we’re planning for now, then it’ll look really nice in the hall with the white textured walls and the amber colored ceiling wood beams.
Have your heard anything about Publix cakes?
What are your experiences with them?
Does anyone have any pricing information?

We're totally using Publix for our cake. We just have to figure out which of the Publix's in town we're going to go with.

Mmmm Publix cake is seriously one of my favorite things; my fiance is OBSESSED with it. He is pretty adamant that we serve it at the wedding…try asking for the almond flavor (you have to request it)…I loooove it!
