Get Your Guests Involved

It is impossible for all your wedding guests to be involved in the planning stages. You and maybe one two close friends and family members have been out and about cake-tasting and exploring venues, but when do the guests get to be a part of the preparations? Why not ask them to contribute their own pictures and stories of you and/or your spouse-t0-be stories for the newspaper is a great way of getting them involved! They will love sharing their memories of you and seeing their name in print.

Communication

Your wedding day is guaranteed to be busy so having in-depth conversations with all of your guests is going to be near to impossible! Even if you do manage to get time for more than a quick ‘hello, how are you and thank you for coming’, you definitely won’t be able to say everything you wanted to, to everyone. You certainly won’t have time to tell everyone about where he is taking you on your honeymoon or that you plan to move to a new place in the near future. A story in a newspaper, however, is the perfect way to share plans, aspirations and funny anecdotes.

Wedding Gifts: Some Simple Solutions

Knowing what to buy a family member or close friend can be hard at times, even harder if it is a long lost cousin or office colleague. In days of old and times gone by, wedding gifts were bought to help a couple start their life together and equip out their new house. This was a time where it wasn’t customary for anyone to live together before marriage.  Nowadays, it is quite the norm for couples to move in together before marrying, meaning all too often, that they already have much of what they need in terms of household appliances by the time their big day arrives. So what to buy?

A Personal Touch

Making something is always a heart felt gesture. Whether this is a photo album of your friendship together or a picture of a holiday or another fun time, the gift will be most treasured and much-appreciated. Special touches could include engraving the gift with a special message or sourcing a collection of photos of the bride and groom for a specially printed photo book.

The Surprise Element

A gift is not always about something someone needs or wants, rather something they don’t know they want. This is the surprise element, a really good idea type of gift that lists itself as practical, useful or just pure fun. It might take some hunting but look for something unusual that will really stand out. Ideal places to search for ideas can be your hometown or country, something from the place you met or they met, maybe something that represents the couple’s personality or a gift that is representative of something that means a lot to you.  The gift doesn’t have to be expensive, the sentimental value will make it priceless.

Even a unique piece of art or an ornament will be treasured for many years to come and will always be a reminder of their special day. Think about everything the couple already have and go for something really different. You may not know what you are looking for until you find it but when you do, it will have been worth the time and effort.

Honeymoon Registry

Many couples have a wedding gift registry or honeymoon registry where you can buy something that have stated they need or can put money towards their honeymoon experience. This is an easy solution to the wedding gift issue and money can easily be sent online with a personalised message.  If you don’t happen to know what a couple could want, are really stuck for ideas or are traveling to the wedding and have limited luggage allowance, then is the perfect option. As this is what they have asked for, you know you won’t go wrong. Alternatively you could purchase something online and arrange to have it delivered.

Food

A beautifully designed food hamper with an exquisite selection of cheese, wine or port can be a wonderful gesture and a classy gift to give.  Wether you are close or not so close to the wedding couple, a luxury food hamper is everything a well thought out gift could ever be and will definitely be much enjoyed. Wedding presents don’t have to be given at the wedding itself; surprising a bride and groom with a special food hamper full of goodies the day after the wedding or a bottle of bubbly and chocolates during wedding morning preparations will go down a treat.

With the creation of bridal registries, the purchasing and presenting of gifts at the traditional bridal shower has lost the opportunity to be spontaneous, creative and, above all, surprising. Gift registries certainly have their purpose, especially when considering that a good number of couples may already share a home before tying the knot. However, it is still possible to stray away from the list and wow the bride-to-be with a special, innovative and completely welcome gift!  Here are some unique gift ideas for her bridal shower.

1. Creative Gift Baskets

The best in creative gift giving can often start with the purchase of a large, empty basket at the local arts and crafts store. Baskets are available in all shapes and sizes and their functionality goes beyond the initial stuffing and shrink-wrapping. Gift baskets can invite the opportunity for several friends or family members to combine their creative juices and equally contribute to the filling of the basket, giving the bride-to-be a treasure hunt of her own as she digs to the bottom. Why not consider something along the lines of a basic home basket with candles, hand towels, small kitchen gadgets and gift cards. Or, for a smaller and individualized gift, fill a basket with romantic items including lingerie, toys, and steamy books to ‘fuel the fire’.

2. Romantic Gift Cards

A gift card or certificate to a romantic restaurant in town is definitely a thoughtful gift. Who wouldn’t relish an all paid for romantic candle-lit dinner on a table for two!

3. A Scrapbook of Their Journey

With regards to photo albums and picture frames, chances are, she’s already received a supply with the announcement of the engagement. Creating a scrapbook, however, that records the journey of the happy couple can be a fun thing to paw through. Ask family and friends for any photos they may like to contribute and you will end up creating a book of great memories that the couple will be able to treasure and look back on forever.

4. A Bride’s First Cookbook

A bride’s first cookbook will never go amiss, especially when she realizes that you made it! Get together with family and friends and each can share their favorite recipe. Type it up and beautify it on a publishing program and bring it to a local office supplies store that offers printing. Chances are, they’ll be able to bind it up and make it look professional. To add a bit of a twist, you could even theme it with fun and romantic ideas for Valentines Day, Christmas, birthday and anniversary celebrations. Chocolate heart cookies and baileys chocolate mouse are just two things that spring to mind.

5. Spa and Beauty Treatment

The stress of a wedding can certainly take its toll. A nice relaxing spa day with some much deserved pampering will help give her some quality time to unwind and get rid of any built up tension. You could arrange for her to go on her own or book it for two so she has some girly company.

5 Must Haves For A Wedding Welcome Bag That Will Wow Your Guests

Have you ever shown up at a hotel ready for a wedding the next day and been really excited when handed your welcome bag from the hotel front desk agent, only to be completely let down once you open it in your room? This scenario has happened to me on more than one occasion, thus I have made you a list of 5 must haves to have in your wedding welcome bag that are sure not to disappoint. Let’s take a look shall we….

1.)    Wine. If you have a lot of out of town guests that have been traveling all day, chances are that they wouldn’t mind unwinding before the festivities start.  Show them you thought about that by including a decent bottle or a couple of mini bottles of wine in their welcome bag.  The last thing they will probably want to do is hit up the hotel bar or go on a mad search for the nearest liquor store.  There’s no need to break the bank here but consider the amount of money they spent to make it to your wedding when you place that wine in their welcome bag. You could event take it one step further if you want and personalize the label.

2.)    Bottles of water. Place a few decent sized bottles of water in your guest’s welcome bag. You want to keep everyone happy and hydrated, especially if you plan on dancing the night away into the wee hours. No one likes looking into their hotel mini fridge and realizing a small bottle of water is going to cost them an arm and a leg. They will thank you for the H20 as much as the vino.

3.)    Mixed Nuts. Everyone likes to be able to have a snack amidst all of the festivities, so why not provide your guests with a decent assortment of mixed nuts. Nuts are both yummy and classy; what better combo could you ask for?  Think: pistachios, cashews, salted almonds, peanuts, walnuts, etc.  Either get a medium sized container, or several small packages of each. Everyone loves some salt from time to time. For guests with a nut allergy include a small packet of shortbread biscuits.

4.)    Breakfast voucher. One very generous and particularly thoughtful thing to include into a wedding welcome bag is a breakfast voucher. Give each guest a voucher that includes a breakfast sandwich from the hotel cafe and a drink, whether the drink be coffee, orange juice, or bottled water.  Breakfast is key after a long night, and your guests will be thankful that you took care of everything the morning after!

5.)    Info about the city your wedding is in. Most weddings are a weekend affair, so make sure your guests make the best out of their mini vacations.  Include maps of the city or town you are having your wedding in, in your welcome bag along with lists, or suggestions of you and your fiancé’s favorite go to places. Include: restaurants, convenience stores, clothing stores, museums, historical landmarks, etc. Encourage them to experience the city that you love in their bits of free time they have between events.

One of the first things brides-to-be begin to think about after they receive their beautiful diamond engagement ring is their wedding ceremony and reception. So the whirlwind of planning begins, from the dress to the location, to the catering and the guest list. There are many decisions to make and details to lock down. One important detail that is often put off until the last minute are the gift ideas for the wedding party.

Wedding day gifts are given on the wedding day to the bridesmaids and groomsmen, to thank them for their assistance and for participating in your wedding. These gifts are usually things that will be lasting keepsakes, so what you give and the way they are presented can become a unique and memorable part of your wedding day.

Traditional wedding day gifts include jewelry for the bridesmaids such as earrings, necklaces, or bracelets, and more masculine bracelets or tie tacks for the groomsmen.

Other traditional gifts can include personalized items like monogrammed travel gear or engraved sterling compacts, flasks, or photo frames on which you can engrave a special message.

A great way to add another touching memory to your wedding day, and thank the people who have put their time, energy, and resources into making it special, is to give a unique gift that truly memorializes your friendship. With a little planning and forethought you can plan a distinctive gift that your friends will cherish for many years to come.

When planning a unique gift, it’s great to think outside the box. Two goals that you want to keep in mind are to give a gift that is personalized to the recipient and your wedding, and give a lasting item that will provide many years of enjoyment. The most unique gifts are those that stem from our own creativity.

A well-designed photo book featuring fun moments and quotes from your friendship including the up to the wedding can provide many memories and lots of laughs. There are many great websites, like Snapfish, that provide template wedding designs where you can match your wedding colors and theme and create a wonderful keepsake with ease.

For brides planning a ‘green’ wedding, one unique idea that will last and grow through the years as well as have a positive impact on the environment, is to give a gift tree from the Arbor Day Foundation. These hardy evergreen trees can be planted outdoors during spring and summer months, or they can be stored in a refrigerator or grown for months indoors until the weather is right. It is definitely a gift that will last a lifetime.

Other fun, memorable ideas include a personalized poem, photo or handwritten note from the heart showcased in a customized frame, a fun custom video, or a painted piece of original art. The more creative and unique the better, so let your imagination run wild to create the perfect keepsake for your special day!
