Stop for a quiet moment together over the Brooklyn Bridge or simply go for a stroll through Central Park. With the entire city as your canvas, you and your spouse can turn your New York City wedding into a work of art.

Whether you say your “I Do’s” in Battery Park with Lady Liberty looking on from a distance, or exchange rings in the breathtaking floral majesty of the New York Botanical Garden, there are many great locations to choose from. From a grand production in the world-famous St. Patrick’s Cathedral to a small elopement at Belvedere Castle in Central Park, it is easy to see why New York is one of the most popular places in the world to get married.  It is certainly not lacking in stunning places in which to celebrate any style, size and theme of wedding.

With its stone columns and pre-war architecture, City Hall makes an excellent choice for couples who want a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Take a limo down past Chambers Street and make your marriage legal in historic City Hall. Stroll through Park Row with your new spouse and take in all New York has to offer. Tavern on the Green has also been a long time favorite of New York City brides and grooms alike. Treat your guests to dinner overlooking the park, and then depart your reception in a horse drawn carriage.

If parks aren’t your thing, why not gather your guests to witness your ceremony in lower Manhattan’s historical South Street Seaport.

Set fire to the spark in your relationship with a honeymoon to one of the world’s sexiest honeymoon destinations. It would be hard not to be in love amid private beaches, five-star cuisine and spas engulfed in some of the world’s most beautiful and exotic natural surroundings.

Santorini

Located in the southern Aegean Sea, Santorini is a small Greek island with coastal cities that build up into the cliffs of the mountainous shore line. Old, white, rounded architecture decorated with domed blue roofs and crosses presents an old-world Mediterranean village attitude in the island’s cities. There are beautiful views from any location in the city. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets are part of what make Santorini such a romantic place. Enjoy local vino at one of the many wineries in the island rural areas and try one of the area’s most famed exports, sweet Santorini tomatoes. Mystique is the most romantic hotel on the island. Located in the northern town of Oia, Mystique offers two villas and 16 cliff-side suites. Enjoy the luxuries of fine dining and a resort-style spa with an inclusive attitude.

Paris

Paris is considered the most romantic city in the world, and is often referred to as the city of love. Art galleries, gourmet cuisine, world-class wine, and designer boutiques rule the French city and give it a “sexy” factor. If you want to book the best bed in town, reserve a room at the ultra-chic One by the Five where the bed (and most of the furniture) float off of the ground. For a great cocktail, why not try La Conserverie, a local favorite known for its uniquely crafted drinks. The Curio Parlor is a speakeasy-style lounge perfect for couples who want to go out but share an intimate experience.

No wonder this is one of the most popular honeymoon destinations on the globe. Rangali and Dhoni Mighili offer some of the most luxurious experiences in the island chain. White sand beaches are completely isolated from the outside world. It’s common to see wild dolphins, manta rays and whale sharks swimming in the ocean near the resort suites. Naladhu is a short drive from over a dozen exotic sites. Glamour magazine says that visitors to the island are encouraged to meet with the island chief, Ahmed Didi, for a night of folkloric storytelling.

Krabi

Located in the southern leg of Thailand not far from Malaysia. Krabi is less popular than Samui and Phuket but is just as beautiful and more isolated. Although, Krabi isn’t far from main attractions like Andanman Bay, Phi Phi and Phuket. Railey Beach is one of the most romantic experiences in Thailand. The beach is only accessible by boat. The beach is surrounded by rainforest and engulfed by lush, green, rock cliffs that seem to tower out of the clear, turquoise lagoons. Raiei Beach Club creates a rustic experience. It offers traditional-style homes for rent amid the tropical jungle. The most exciting moment of your life seems closer than ever. The countdown is on and the wedding arrangements are in place, but there is one ‘small’ detail yet to finalize; your honeymoon destination. Where to go to? There are so many great locations to choose from that one could definitely feel ‘lost’. You can, however, help narrow down the choices according to you and your spouse’s personality. Here are some ideas you may find helpful.

Honeymoon Destination for the Adventurous Types – An African Safari

Take a walk on the wild side. If both of you are the adventurous types, a safari in Africa might really appeal. The feeling of being in the wilderness, amongst nature and just feet away from exotic animals in their natural habitat is a breathtaking and exciting experience. Watch the elephants at a nearby watering hole, giraffes lope across the open plains and take that perfect picture of a lion on the move. Camp out in a luxury tent for the ultimate African safari experience.

Honeymoon Destination for Divers – Polynesia

If water sports are your thing, why not make your honeymoon a surfing/diving one and where better place to go to than Polynesia? With the lure of pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters, regardless of whether you spend your honeymoon in Hawaii, Tuvalu or Samoa, you are bound to have a great time. While diving there you are sure to come across some of the most beautiful coral reefs and species of fish you have ever seen.

A Honeymoon Destination for Skiers – Switzerland

Nothing brings two lovers closer together than practicing their favorite past-time activities together. If your honeymoon is going to fall in the winter, why not make it a skiing holiday in the world famous Alps? Lined with plenty of slopes to choose from and pretty wooden chalets, the Alps make for a wonderful winter wonderful. Why not also spend some time exploring some of the nearby towns and villages and stop for a hot cup of cocoa in one of the many tempting Chocolateries?

A Romantic Honeymoon Destination – Paris

Ah, the city of love. Whether it is watching the sunset over the Arc du Triomphe, having a crepe at Montmartre or enjoying coffee and croissants for breakfast on Champs Elysee, Paris is bound to appeal to all of you helpless romantics out there. Je t’aime du fond de mon coeur”; you can even impress your loved one and pick up a little of the language. I love you from the bottom of my heart always sounds magical, but you have to admit that it sounds even better in French. Why not fall in love all over again at the top of la Tour Eiffel!

City Honeymoon Destination – New York

Shopping must be part of the agenda if heading to one the United States’ most iconic cities. While men are usually not really into this kind of ‘entertainment’ (sure there are some exceptions), most ladies love it and New York definitely is one of the best shopping destinations out there. Whether it is classy apparel for the both of you, or some interior pieces for your future home, you are sure to find it there, especially if you are lucky enough to ‘catch’ a sale. Once the shops have been exhausted, there is always central park to explore, Magnolia Bakery cupcakes to try and the Statue of Liberty to visit. Manhattan looks stunning by night so why not book an evening helicopter tour for a new perspective. Isn’t these kind of moments that memories are made of anyway?

Paris Wedding

If you’re just not feeling satisfied having your wedding in the place that you and your fiance are currently residing and have your heart set on somewhere a bit more fabulous, I am here to help you. Here’s just a few ideas of where the people on your guest list might not be too bummed about buying a plane ticket to. Whether you’re a beach person or a mountain person, or just plain want somewhere to take amazing photographs, there’s a bit of something for everyone on this list.

Italy

For all of us that aren’t able to call Italy home, there’s nothing more romantic than a trip to Italy with the one we love.  Why not make your next romantic getaway your wedding? Choose any place in Italy that you are drawn to; Venice, Florence, Rome, Milan, Tuscany etc. There’s no shortage of amazing places to tie the knot in this country. Just make sure that everyone planning on attending this once in a lifetime soiree has a passport in time.  With overseas destination weddings, it is also a great idea to hire a wedding planning specialist. This will help all of your guests get the most out of their trip.

Aspen

Aspen, Colorado is a mountain lover’s dream town. Famous for it’s unbelievable mountains, A-list celebrity sightings, and astonishing amounts of sunshine and snow this is one place that your guests won’t want to miss out on. Outdoor weddings are big in Aspen, in both the summer and winter seasons. Winter is considered peak season is Aspen, so you will want to brace yourself for the cost. Along with warning your guests of potential delays in traveling in case of snow.

Paris

It isn’t called the most romantic city in the world for nothing. If cliches don’t bother you, then what are you waiting for? Paris is beautiful in any season, rain or shine. This city is rich with culture, history, and incredible architecture. All of which make the perfect match for a to die for destination wedding experience.  I picture glamorous wedding photographs in lush gardens and of course in front of the Eiffel Tower. Once again, a wedding specialist would be a wise choice if this is an international affair for many of the guests on the guest list.

Napa Valley

Napa Valley, CA is a destination for all of you wine lovers out there. Famous for its beautiful Vineyards, the majority located alongside Highway Route 29.  Napa is absolutely gorgeous, and is home to some of the world’s best wineries and restaurants.  September and October months are at the height of crush season, and thus very popular and crowded. Prices will be the most expensive during this time in the area.  A popular estate called Meadowood is well known for hosting some of the best private events in the valley.

Hawaii

If you are set on sending your family and friends on a beach getaway while watching you say your vows, then look no further. Hawaii is the ultimate beach destination wedding spot. The islands are warm and welcoming making it an extremely memorable experience for all. With six diverse islands for you and your fiance to choose from you should have no problem marrying in luxury, and spectacular scenery. Think mountains, volcanoes, blank sand beaches, and more.

If these five destination wedding places haven’t peaked your interest, I don’t know what will.  Happy planning and booking plane tickets! You are going to have the wedding & honeymoon of a lifetime!

Dream Honeymoon Ideas You Haven’t Already Thought Of

Newlyweds skiing

As you open the door to a new life together as husband and wife, honeymoons are all about new experiences. How better to celebrate your new marriage than by trying something truly new on an adventure holiday? An adventure honeymoon is a unique way to strengthen your new bond.

Whether you’re an adrenalin junkie constantly chasing your next big adventure or are new to the idea of activity holidays, there is almost certainly a holiday out there to suit you. Depending on how important the ‘adventure’ part of the holiday is to you, you may wish to base your entire honeymoon around the pursuit of a particular activity; alternatively, you may prefer to choose your dream destination first, planning your activities around this.

Hiking Holidays

One form of adventure holiday particularly popular amongst newlyweds enjoying their honeymoon is the hiking holiday. Serious walking is a refreshing and often enlightening activity which allows plenty of time for conversation and plenty of opportunities for romantic moments. Think watching the sun set over the mountains of Borneo, or catching a glimpse of giant tortoises on the Galapagos Islands. Spending your honeymoon witnessing some of the world’s most spectacular wildlife will provide you with some truly magical memories upon which to build your marital future. Many of the world’s rarest species, exist only in the furthest reaches of the rainforest, mountains or desert and are therefore only visible to hikers.

Peruvian Adventure

For the truly adventurous, Peru is an adrenalin junkie’s paradise. Filled with every type of landscape, from mountains and rainforests to deserted stretches of open plains, Peru is a minefield of different adventure experiences to suit even the most extreme of tastes. Adventure highlights include walking the whole of the Inca trail, including trekking up all the steps of the iconic Machu Picchu; taking the 2000 metre long zip wire across the Incas valley in Cusco; and mountain biking around the Andes, to name but a few. As adventure holidays go, Peru must surely be one of the world’s most unbeatable destinations!

Ski Holidays

If exotic climes aren’t for you, then perhaps a skiing holiday might make a more suitable honeymoon! Particularly for those opting for a winter wedding, a skiing holiday can be a memorable way to mark the start of this new chapter in your life. Many ski holiday agents recognise this and can offer tailored honeymoon packages for newly married couples. These include such luxuries as tastefully furnished honeymoon suites or chalets complete with working fireplaces, champagne buckets, scattered rose petals, mood lighting and complementary massages, all carefully engineered to ensure your holiday is as romantic and indulgent as it can possibly be.

As with any skiing holiday, it is important to be honest about your skiing abilities to avoid embarrassment or even potentially dangerous situations. If neither of you have skied before, most ski instructors are happy to give private lessons to couples; learning to ski together can really encourage you to explore your relationship as you lean on one another for both physical and moral support. If your skiing abilities differ, you can still enjoy a skiing honeymoon together: even if one of you requires skiing lessons, these need only take one or two hours and you can then meet up again to enjoy the rest of the day together.
