Hello there Weddzilla-verse! I am so excited to be a part of this amazing community. Since I will be cuddling up and settling in as a featured blogger right here on the Weddzilla Blog (woohoo me!), I thought I would introduce myself.

I am a science geek turned lawyer engaged to the smartest man I know, a math geek turned finance guy (I call him, The Big Guy). We met in college and fell in love over thumb war and some tough times that we supported each other through. I was born in Minsk, Belarus which some of you may know was in the former Soviet Union from a very boring social studies class (and some may recognize from when Phoebe’s boyfriend went there to do research on Friends). I moved to Brooklyn when I was 5 and fell in love with the NYC. I took a brief NY-hiatus to go to college in Boston where I met the Big Guy (who hails all the way from the Pacific Northwest). And now we live and play in Manhattan and will be getting married here too!

A few fun facts about yours truly:
I am big on things that are simple, modern, clean, and chic.
I am not at all into things that are poufy, gilded, princess-related, or involve stuffyness of any sort. I can appreciate that sometimes those things are very pretty and if you’re into any of them, by all means, do you. But they are not at all me, so my mission is to create a wedding minus all of those second category things … not easy.

I am big on my Jewishness.
Since my family was not allowed by the government to practice Judaism when we lived in the USSR, I have been taking classes to try to learn about my culture/religion and regain what we lost under the regime. Our Jewish identity is really important to me and the Big Guy and will definitely come through in our wedding planning process.

I am big on NY.
Which means, I am trying to plan a practical and sane wedding in the most expensive city in the universe. So, you know your girl stays on the hustle.

I love: dogs (really anything round and fuzzy) … my incredible friends and crazy Russian family … football, hockey, and basketball … ellipses … hiking, biking, climbing trees … comedy in any form … a vodka on the rocks and an all-night dance party … flowers that grow on trees … the NYC … telling stories and making people laugh … oh yeh and the Big Guy.
