I was just reading all about how weddings have changed through out the years – Decades have gone by and there have been many changes.  From the cost of things, to the way they are being designed… So many changes.  While It is to be expected that prices are much diffrernt… ie:  The avg cost of a honeymoon around 1950 was under $250.00  ( to Niagra falls being the most popular destination)  and now the avg. price tag is over $3000.00  (to Hawaii as the most popular destination) . This is normal to go with the times… I mean – look at houses – back in the 1950′s a large home was only $15,000 or so – now the same size house can range from $200,00 to $800,000 depending on where you live.

Anyway… Putting cost aside -  What are the other changes that have taken place over these past 6 decades?  Well age would be one of them.  Brides & Grooms used to walk to the Altar at at the avg. age of 20 and 22 years old.  In the past few years the avg is now 26 and 28  (brides & grooms respectively).   Wedding Planning and DIY Wedding Creations are a huge thing in the 2000′s.  Brides are taking matters into their own hands and lovin’ it!

The last but certainly not least thing I wanted to touch on is the wedding design and photography aspect.   This has improved and grown by LEAPS and BOUNDS over the years - especialy this last decade.

(imbarressing here…) But, look at my lame wedding pix… These are what I have as the “best” shots.  That’s pretty depressing to say the least.  There was no real inspiration or photographic “norm” to do anything unique or artistic… So this is what I’m stuck with. 

       

 When I see all the  Wedding Inspiration! boards and beautiful wedding photography that is plastered all over the internet it turns me a few shades of Green!   (Not the Eco Friendly kind of green either) but more of the “Green-eyed monster” – kinda green.   I am a bit jealous of all the brides in this day and age.   They have sooo very much at their fingertips.  So much to choose from to make their wedding complete, customized and a day they will remember always.

Wedding Photography has changed.  It’s grown up to be an amazing art form… Thanks to all the great blogs and gorgeousness abound, brides and photographers alike are inspired and compelled to bring their wedding photographs to the next level… not simply some pictures of the bride / groom and bridal party posing in nice places… but fun and eyecatching photography in unique and amazingly beautiful places… Along with this… are photos of the actual wedding arangements, like the table settings, artistic floral photographs, beautiful photoscapes of the wedding from an artist’s eye. 

This truly is THE Time to be married!  Let’s here it for the Milinium of the 2000′s!
