According to WeddingChannel.com here are some tips to remember when you are planning your wedding and involving kids!
- Give children a role in the ceremony, something small and easy but something that makes them feel like they are an important part of the wedding. This is a good recommended idea for blending families. If you have a child and you are marring someone besides their biological parent, this will make them feel included and part of the commitment!
- Practice makes perfect! Make sure you go over their roles and responsibilities so that they feel comfortable with what they are to do. Work with them before the rehearsal and then also include them in the rehearsal so they get a feel of what it is like to have people there. Reassure them every step of the way!
- Make sure kids are well rested before the ceremony. You don't want to have kids throwing a fit when you are about to walk down the aisle.
- Give them health meals or snacks without sugar! No one wants a hyper child drawing attention during the wedding. This will also help with making sure they do end up with a sugar overload stomach ache before the wedding.
- Give kids a disposable camera to make them feel like they are photographing the reception. This will keep them busy, quite and content and it is a fun neat idea!
- Have an area that is kid friendly with activities and things that the kids can do during the reception. Ideas may include coloring, puzzles, books or something along these lines.
- Create a kids menu or just have snacks for kids. There is no need to include them in the main food count because they will not eat that much food. Have kid friendly foods like chicken fingers and fries.

We are having kids at our wedding and plan to have a dedicated area with toys for them. We will also hire one professional babysitter to hang out in that area, although I'm sure all the parents will have one eye there at all times too.
But I have to say, chicken fingers and fries is food that I would never feed a child - it will make them tired and bring down their mood fast. Horrible idea. Please people, kid-friendly finger food does not have to mean deep fried!
