Wedding Abbreviations Drive You Nuts? Help Is Here!

Pop Quiz:

Q: You receive a text message on your cell phone - Do you know what it says?

From MOH to BMs: 4 our Sat GTG- make sure to have all details ready for e-party, and BP!!!

A: Answer at the end of the article.

Many people out there understand shorthand in texting such as using U, R, TTYL, etc. But more and more weddings are developing their own shorthand. I was recently looking through wedding website message boards and found it very difficult to understand what was being communicated between posts because of the extensive use of various abbreviations and terms. There is no doubt that planning a wedding today has brides and grooms going in twenty different directions, but does the use of abbreviations and intricate jargon help or hinder the process for all those involved?

This new wedding language is not always just abbreviations. It is the overall lingo in everything from invitations to wedding dresses to catering and cakes and more! Each of these various areas has a wide range of new vocabulary terms that are important to know when making big wedding day decisions.

One of the most common areas where brides and their bridesmaids may have some difficulty is when it comes to buying the oh-so important dress because of the various styles and fabrics. Would you know an empire style dress with Sabrina neckline with a sweep train versus a high-low princess style with a portrait neckline? What do either of those mean? If you were a BM (bridesmaid people!) assigned to get this type of wedding gown, would you have any idea what to look for?

For those fluent in the language of weddings, these abbreviations are now second nature. But for the newly engaged brides this attempt to shorten key phrases can lead to wasted time Googling random acronyms for hours! Simplicity is something we strive to create here at Weddzilla. The links below will provide you further explanation of abbreviations and lingo for all kinds of wedding related topics. Don't become a BZ use WZ!
