Posted by 10kbrideyour ring is absolutly stunning…Congrats on getting the ring that really means something special to you. That's what counts.
Is there any reason you chose the stone you did?
My hubbby and I have Diamonds and Emeralds in our rings…Both of us have both. (call us sappy romantics) but we wanted them to match. You see our stones have a deeper meaning. His birthstone is diamond and Mine is Emerald – so we decided to incorporate both stones into both rings to be totally united in that way.
April is my birthday, so naturally a diamond is my best friend. But I also got a huge amethyst solitaire 7 years ago and joked anyone who'd marry me oughta buy me a diamond equal in size (approx 3 carats) or else something that made as much a statement. And years later my FH granted my wish. I wear the diamond solitaire he originally proposed with on my right hand.
Lovely ring! I am all about colored cushion cuts!
Diamonds are lovely because they are colorless. But they're not actually a tradition, but a DeBeers created tradition (they are truly marketing geniuses). I don't think anyone should feel pressured to have to wear a diamond ring. They are of course pretty and go with most things. But you have a great ring and any woman should just have a ring she likes!
Thanks, Chic! I had a feeling the "tradition" of diamonds for engagement rings were similar to greeting cards (thank you, Hallmark).

Beautiful ring!
You know, I never wanted any thing other than a diamond. I remember when my FH began talking about rings and asked me if I wanted I a diamond or some other kind of stone, I looked at him like he was growing horns or something. I've had quite a few rings with other types of stones… and love wearing them. To me, a diamond is what *represents* to us and to many others the commitment to another person in marriage. Just tradition I know, but I like it.
